Privacy policy

Say the Date provides wedding websites at saythedate.online and its subdomains (for example anna-luca.saythedate.online). This policy explains what personal data is processed, why, and for how long. It covers couples who order a website (“couples”) and their guests who visit or reply (“guests”).
Who is responsible

Each couple is responsible for the content of their own wedding website: texts, photos, and whom they invite. We process guest replies on the couple’s behalf, only so they can plan their wedding.
What we process
- Couples: names, the email address used to log in, the wedding date and place, and the texts, photos and settings you add to your website. Etsy handles your order and payment (see Etsy’s privacy policy).
- Guests who reply (RSVP): name, email address, whether you’re coming, the number and names of guests, meal choices, and optional dietary needs, song request and note. Dietary needs can reveal health or religious information, so only add what you’re comfortable sharing. It’s used only for catering.
- Everyone: the server keeps short technical logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser) for security and to fix errors.
Why
- To provide the website the couple ordered (contract).
- To let guests reply and the couple plan the wedding (on the couple’s behalf; replying is voluntary).
- To keep the service secure, for example by limiting failed logins and spam (legitimate interest).
Who sees it
Guest replies are visible only to the couple in their dashboard, and to us when needed for support. We don’t sell data, and we don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Fonts and design files are served from our own server. The map and calendar buttons only contact Google if you click them.
Service providers: our server is hosted by IONOS in a data centre in Germany (EU), which Switzerland recognises as having an adequate level of data protection. Orders and messages go through Etsy.
How long
- A wedding website closes 3 months after the wedding, or on a later date agreed with the couple. Guest replies are deleted automatically when it closes.
- 14 days after closing, the whole website, the couple’s account and all uploaded photos are deleted automatically. On request, we can delete them sooner.
- Server logs are deleted after 14 days.
Cookies
Guests get no cookies. The website only remembers in your browser, for that visit, that you’ve already opened the envelope. Couples who log in get the login cookies WordPress needs.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion. Write to hello@saythedate.online. Guests can also contact the couple directly. You may complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the EU, to your local data protection authority.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the current version.
